CAMPINAS, Brazil – Aviagen® Latin America is pleased to welcome Nilton Vieira as its new Operations Director for Latin America (excluding Brazil). Vieira brings more than three decades of experience in the animal protein industry, shaped by the management of large-scale projects and extensive international exposure.
Nilton Vieira brings decades of experience to support food security, animal welfare and sustainable growth across Latin America
Nilton began his career in Brazil, where he worked until 2008 with a focus on poultry production, farm environments and animal welfare. In 2009, he made the leap to the Asian market, becoming vice president of a major industry player with operations in Indonesia, India, Vietnam, Myanmar and Bangladesh.
“My career has always been driven by practical, hands-on work. Over the years, I’ve focused on developing products and people and doing my part to help feed the world with nutritious and sustainable animal protein,” says Nilton.
During his time in Asia, Nilton led a full upgrade of the company’s poultry division. Despite significant poultry health-related hurdles in the region, he delivered strong gains in performance and helped secure market leadership by enforcing high biosecurity expectations.
Breeding customer success across the region
As he steps into his new role with Aviagen, Nilton plans to apply the same disciplined approach that delivered results in Asia, this time with a renewed emphasis on innovation and operational agility. “We are investing for high performance, sustainability and, of course, animal welfare. Our goal is to bring practical solutions that help Aviagen customers tackle challenges in the field,” he said.
Beyond poultry, Nilton has built multidisciplinary experience overseas, contributing to swine, aquaculture and dairy operations. Throughout these assignments, his priority has been adopting advanced technologies to improve environmental conditions and deliver stronger outcomes.
In his new role, Nilton will report directly to Ivan Lauandos, Aviagen President in Latin America. “Nilton is a great addition to the Latin American team. I’ve known him for many years, and his broad, international experience will be a real asset as he works closely with our teams to support customer success across the region. His leadership will also help ensure poultry producers can continue providing safe, affordable protein to families and communities throughout Latin America,” concluded Lauandos.
