Paraná meetings explored key drivers of flock welfare, sustainability and performance
CAMPINAS, Brazil – Two new editions of Connect Aviagen® in Paraná, Brazil, brought together poultry professionals to discuss practical strategies for managing climate fluctuations and strengthening flock health. Held in Maringá on May 26 and Cascavel on May 28, the events welcomed approximately 200 poultry professionals from the northern, western and southwestern regions of the state. Discussions focused on how effective management, environmental control and a systematic approach to excellence in poultry production can support flock productivity, welfare and sustainability.
The events reflected Aviagen’s ongoing commitment to breeding success together with customers and the Brazilian poultry industry through practical knowledge-sharing and close collaboration.
Key environmental control and flock health strategies
According to Aviagen Commercial Manager Luiz Mansano, maintaining strong environmental control and improving animal health and welfare are among the best ways to support poultry producers in managing the realities of modern production.
“The strong turnout in both regions reflects the strong commitment of Paraná’s poultry industry. Our main goal with this edition of Connect Aviagen was to share practical environmental management and biosecurity strategies. We want to help producers protect economic sustainability and maintain flock efficiency, regardless of climate instability or disease challenges,” he said.
Practical strategies for flock health and environmental control
The presentation program focused on areas that influence day-to-day farm performance. Opening the discussions, Vaxxinova Technical Manager Gustavo Schaeffer shared best practices for the downtime period between flocks, highlighting measures to help prevent disease and support overall flock health.
Next, Plasson LATAM Technical Coordinator Ricardo Parente discussed how efficient infrastructure and the correct use of equipment contribute to effective environmental control, especially under challenging climate conditions.
The direct impact of these factors on bird development was explored by Aviagen Regional Technical Services Supervisor and broiler specialist Ivan Filippini. He shared practical management approaches aimed at supporting strong flock welfare, sustainability and performance despite temperature fluctuations.
To encourage engagement and idea exchange, both events included dedicated Q&A sessions.
Local insight and management excellence
In addition to the core topics covered at both events, the Maringá program featured an additional session led by Aviagen Brazil Regional Technical Services Supervisor Bruno Machado. His presentation examined the impact of seasonal changes on chick quality and shared management approaches to help maintain consistent flock performance year-round.
At the Cascavel event, attendees also heard from João Nelson Tolfo, co-owner of Granjas Pampeano Avicultura e Consultoria. He shared practical insight on turning technical knowledge into stronger on-farm results.
Reflecting on the discussions held during both meetings, Aviagen Technical Services Manager Rodrigo Tedesco emphasized the importance of applying management practices effectively to achieve consistent flock welfare and performance.
“Fine-tuning the environment allows producers to achieve the full potential of Ross® birds. By bringing the poultry value chain together to discuss climate control and biosecurity at a high level, we are helping customers apply practical tools that support efficiency and productive flocks throughout the year,” concluded Tedesco.
