Aviagen Explores the “Future of Poultry Farming” with Customers in Panama

193 poultry professionals from 20 Latin American countries discussed key industry challenges in a region that supplies 19% of the world’s breeding stock

CAMPINAS, Brazil – From March 10 to 14, Panama City became a hub for poultry professionals as Aviagen® Latin America hosted two major events: the Aviagen Latin America Association (ALAA), an exclusive gathering for grandparent stock customers, and the Aviagen Training Conference – Latin America (ATC-LA), designed for both grandparent and breeder producers.

Held every two years in different locations, these events are part of Aviagen’s commitment to Breeding Success Together, providing customers with the latest flock management innovations, trends, and practical advice to enhance the welfare, performance, and sustainability of Ross® and Arbor Acres® breeding stock.

Latin America plays a significant role in the poultry industry, supplying 116 million breeding stock – approximately 19% of the world’s total.

“The region is an increasingly important part of Aviagen’s global business, and we are making major investments in production capacity, biosecurity, clean energy and digitalization to support its growth,” said Ivan Pupo Lauandos, President of Aviagen Latin America.

“Alongside our customers from across Latin America, we explored the latest advancements in genetics, as well as the best practices in flock management, nutrition, and incubation – all aimed at helping our breeds reach their full potential,” added Jorge Amado, Aviagen’s Regional Technical Manager in Latin America. “It was a highly productive event in a great setting, providing the perfect opportunity for customers from different countries and cultures to share experiences and insights.”

At ALAA on March 10, Aviagen’s grandparent stock customers exchanged insights on poultry genetics, management, nutrition, health and biosecurity, fostering collaboration and shared learning.

The chicken of the future

A standout session focused on the chicken of the future, with Aviagen geneticists unveiling projections for 2028. Aviagen invests over 10% of its revenue in research and development, continuously advancing poultry breeding to enhance poultry growth rate, feed efficiency, and yield.
