Breeding success with our customers: New production facility in Santo Antônio da Alegria, Brazil, helps strengthen supply security

CAMPINAS, Brazil – To support the growing popularity of its Ross® 308 AP broiler breeding stock and strengthen security of supply for customers, Aviagen® Latin America is expanding production with a new Grandparent (GP) farm in Santo Antônio da Alegria, São Paulo, Brazil.

Scheduled to receive its first chicks in July, the facility will add 3.8 million Parent Stock (PS) chicks per year to Aviagen’s output. Spanning 365 hectares and equipped with eight purpose-built sheds, the farm was designed from the ground up to enhance biosecurity, sustainability, innovation and energy efficiency.

Celebrating year-on-year improvement

The announcement comes at a time when Ross 308 AP is delivering impressive and consistent results for poultry producers across the region. In 2024, Ross 308 AP breeders achieved an average of 154.4 chicks per female and a hatch rate of 80.85%. Among the top 25% of producers, these figures climbed to 163.7 chicks per female and 84.20% hatchability—clear signs of genetic progress and expert flock management. Aviagen is proud to recognize these top performers.

“We’re proud of our customers, who are demonstrating the immense skill, dedication, and teamwork essential to these impressive results,” said Marco Aurélio Romagnole de Araújo, Aviagen's Technical Services Manager in Brazil. “By breeding success together with our customers, we can continue to unlock the full potential of Ross 308 AP, balancing bird welfare with performance and sustainability.”

Customers get a preview of state-of-the-art facility

On May 14, Aviagen welcomed 65 customers from 23 poultry companies to tour the new farm ahead of its opening (before bird placement). Visitors got a first look at the quality of construction and infrastructure, along with the advanced biosecurity and environmental control features designed into every aspect of the site.

Leandro München, Aviagen’s Director of Operations in Brazil, explained how new construction methods not only enhance biosecurity but also increase efficiency and ease of operation.

Breeding for the future

The new GP farm represents part of Aviagen’s R$738 million investment in Brazil over the past five years, reinforcing the company’s commitment to the country’s poultry sector.

“We are combining two key drivers of growth for Brazilian poultry: the steady increase in production of GP and Parent Stock birds, and the rising demand from our customers—who continue to see excellent outcomes with the Ross 308 AP,” said Ivan Pupo Lauandos, President of Aviagen Latin America. “These results are visible in the field and widely reported by customers. And we’re not stopping here—more expansion plans will be announced soon, as we continue to invest in Brazil’s poultry future.”
