Aviagen brings global expertise and local relevance to support poultry producers and the communities they serve

CAMPINAS, Brazil – More than 180 poultry industry professionals recently gathered in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, for the latest “Knowledge Without Borders” seminar hosted by Aviagen^®. Together with Aviagen poultry specialists, they explored practical flock management strategies that lead to greater animal welfare and production efficiency.

The event connected global research with the day-to-day realities faced by poultry producers across the region, creating opportunities to share experiences and discuss solutions to common challenges.

Through presentations and discussions led by Aviagen specialists, attendees gained insights into breeder management, nutrition and other and other key areas that influence flock success.

For Osvaldo Bolinaga, Aviagen Head of Technical Services for South America excluding Brazil (SAEB), success is built through attention to detail. “Today's birds offer tremendous genetic potential, and realizing that potential requires a balanced approach that aligns nutrition and flock management throughout every stage of production. With ‘Knowledge Without Borders’, our aim is to bring proven approaches directly to poultry producers in Bolivia, demonstrating how even small adjustments in breeder male and female management can contribute to greater sustainability, healthier flocks and long-term success,” said Bolinaga.

Management fundamentals and precision nutrition

Sessions focused on effective management and nutrition approaches that help poultry producers achieve healthy, productive breeder flocks. Rodrigo D'Amen, Aviagen SAEB Technical Services Manager, discussed key management considerations and their influence on flock results throughout the production cycle.

Jorge Amado, Aviagen Regional Technical Manager for Latin America, shared practical recommendations for breeder male management to support fertility and longevity. Nutritionist Ines Rodrigues of Aviagen Ltd. explored the nutritional needs of breeder flocks and the important role nutrition plays in enhancing egg quality. Her presentation sparked discussion among attendees, who shared questions and experiences from their own operations.

Winter environmental management and efficient production

During the afternoon sessions, participants explored factors that shape broiler outcomes from hatch through market age. Guillermo Reyes, incubation specialist with Aviagen, Inc., discussed how incubation practices support chick quality and early development.

Santiago Lovera, Aviagen SAEB Technical Services Manager, offered guidance on winter ventilation, along with temperature and broiler management practices that contribute to bird wellbeing and flock uniformity. Rodrigues also shared feeding strategies for broilers that support bird health and efficient use of feed resources.

Closing the event, Osvaldo Bolinaga emphasized the value of collaboration and knowledge sharing across the poultry value chain. “Success is built when knowledge is shared and applied in ways that create value for producers, birds and the people who depend on poultry every day.
